Hello, and thanks for visiting the official Pilesar/Chameleon Dish Archives website. My name is Jason Mullinax and I'm an experimental musician and song writer currently residing in Takoma Park, Maryland. Chameleon Dish Archives is my DIY micro-label that functions as an outlet for me to promote my own music as well as that of a select few other artists with whom I share a common vision. CDAspecializes in small run, handmade CDR and free MP3 releases which can be downloaded in the Music section of this website.. ******************************************************************************************************************
12/4/11: Hey gang! Just wanted to give a quick update on the new album, Discomforter. I've recorded the majority of the material and now I'm mostly just in the process of mixing, tweaking, etc. I will be releasing it digitally some time early next February and a physical CD release will follow later in the year once I get more funding. As a teaser, I thought it would be fun to give you a sneak peek at a few tracks so I've released three for streaming on Soundcloud: Pinky Swear, Repeat Defender, and Ricochet. They're definitely not final versions but they'll give you an idea of where I'm going with this thing. Although this will be my poppiest record to date, there will still be plenty of bizarre twists and turns to keep it firmly planted in Pilesar territory. I've decided to take the next few months off from live performance so I can direct my full attetnion into getting this album done and setting up a small support tour in the early spring of 2012. I'll try to keep progress reports coming on a monthly basis. Thanks so much for a great year! 11/16/11: Got a big birthday bash going down at the Velvet Lounge in DC on Friday, December 2nd. This may be my last show for quite some time so If you're in the area try to come out and say hi! In other news, I'm slowly chipping away at my next album. It's going to be called Discomforter and as it stands now, there will be 16 tracks clocking in at around 50+ minutes. It's going to be a lot more sophisticated than Radio Friendly both thematically and compositionally but I still think it's going to be a lot of fun. In all honestly, it may end up being my best album yet.... Stay tuned!!! 10/17/11: Added some more dates to the show calendar. I also uploaded a TON of new stuff to my Bandcamp page. You should hurry over there and see what goodies I have in store for you now!!! I'm still working on revamping the new site. Stay tuned. 9/12/11: I recently finished a new tune called Spider Bait and you can now get it on vinyl from the Sonic Circuits website. It's on a compilation called District of Noise 4 which highlights some of the best of DC's experimental music scene... I posted some new shows on the Show Calendar as well! 8/18/11: I just released the new No Good for Eyeballs EP today and you can download it at Bandcamp.com. Hooray for technology! I posted a version of Radio Friendly as well, complete with eight bonus tracks totaling over 22 minutes of new music. You have to download the album to get the bonus material (they're hidden tracks, shhhhhhhhh!!!) so if you're feeling frisky don't be afraid to pick it up. If you've already bought the album somewhere else and would like the bonus tracks shoot me an email and I'll send you a free download code. Thanks! 6/18/11: After some deliberation, I've decided that it was finally necessary for me to "reboot" the Pilesar brand. I've been going at this for close to thirteen years and felt my discography was a bit of a mess and in drastic need of reorganization. In light of this decision, I have taken down the majority of my back catalog and have locked it away in the vault. I'm open to possibly releasing the majority of it again sometime in the future in different formats but for the time being I want to focus more on my current work and live set up. If there was a previously posted album that you'd still like to hear but didn't get a chance to download just shoot me an email and I'll slide you a copy under the table and all that. It'll be our little secret;). As I stated before, I'm in the process of revamping the site so I'm hoping to have something up by the end of the summer. Stay tuned! 5/22/11: Hi all! Sorry for the lack of updates lately. I've decided that I need to overhaul the site by trimming some of the fat and making it more interactive so that's been taking up a lot of my time recently. That and working on new live material and preparing for the recording of my next album. I'll try to get better about staying on top of things, I promise! Anyways, for those of you not already aware, I do have a Facebook page and you can follow me on Twitter (@pilesarmusic). I've been trying to get more involved in this whole social media thing so until I get this site reorganized those may be the best places to keep up with my activities. I'll be back soon with some more updates and maybe another album or two to post. Thanks! |
